SOPs for Specimen Accrual

Biospecimen Services has Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in place to ensure that specimens are handled and processed in a consistent manner within each Collection Protocol, while maintaining a high standard of specimen provenance:

SOP - Extracting DNA from Saliva

SOP - Extraction of DNA from Cell Pellet - Isolation of blood genomic DNA/Total RNA

SOP - Isolation of DNA/total RNA from Fresh/Frozen Tissue

SOP - Isolation of Plasma from Whole Blood

SOP - Bone Marrow Aspirate Processing

In accordance with UNSW's Research Code of Conduct and Procedure for Authorship and for Resolving Disputes Between Authors, any publications and/or presentations resulting from specimens and/or data obtained from Biospecimen Services or Health Precincts Biobank is required to acknowledge the source within the 'Acknowledgement' or 'Materials/Methods' sections in the following manner:

For Biospecimen Services samples:

“Biospecimens and / or data used in this research were obtained from UNSW Biospecimen Services, Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre (MWAC), UNSW Sydney, Australia”

OR for Health Precincts Biobank samples:

“Biospecimens and / or data used in this research were obtained from the Health Precincts Biobank (formerly named HSA Biobank), UNSW Biospecimen Services, Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre (MWAC), UNSW Sydney, Australia”
