For short projects or when a project supervisor does not want to train staff or students to perform analysis at the BMSF, an expert BMSF analyst can provide assistance. This usually begins with a meeting to discuss the scientific needs of the project. Whenever possible the analyst will assist on that project until its completion. If BMSF expertise is needed for grant applications or publishing results, the analysts will normally be able to assist.
Access rates for projects undertaken with a BMSF analyst performing the measurements are higher than for projects where the research group provides a student or staff member to operate the equipment. In that case the researcher will need training by a BMSF analyst. Once the training is completed the researcher is able to consult with the analyst from time-to-time to make sure that the measurements are proceeding correctly.
To arrange a meeting with one or more BMSF analysts simply email the Laboratory Coordinator or your preferred analyst.
